Meet Drew, Pinata’s Business Development Lead
How would you describe your role at Pinata?
My title is “Business Development,” but the simplest way to describe my role is a focus on building long-term, sustainable revenue. I spend most of my time at the intersection of sales, marketing, and strategic partnerships. No matter what hat I’m wearing, the goal is always the same: use everything I’ve learned over my career to help move the needle for Pinata.
What made you join Pinata?
A lot of people think the future of crypto will be determined by what’s happening on the charts. When you zoom out, though, the real winners are the ones solving real problems with real users building products people actually rely on. What drew me to Pinata came down to three things. First, the founders are deeply pragmatic and focused on the long game. Second, the product was already loved by hundreds of thousands of developers, with product-market fit at both the developer and enterprise level. And third, and maybe most importantly…IPFS just makes sense. Inevitable, not hype-driven.
What excites you most about working in the space?
Pinata sits right in the middle of what feels like the early days of an industrial revolution. Our customers are building across AI, crypto, and everything happening at the edge. Every day I come to work more convinced that Pinata, and IPFS itself, is quietly becoming the glue holding this next wave of innovation together. Being that close to the builders shaping what comes next is as inspiring as it is energizing.
Your role is customer-facing and developer-facing. What’s that like?
I absolutely love rolling up my sleeves with our partners and helping solve the problems that keep founders up at night. What makes it even more exciting is when we’re not just reacting to whatever’s trending in the market, we’re actively helping to define ‘what’s next’ with the biggest players in the space. Take for example everything we’re doing right now around x402. Instead of playing catch-up, or talking about our “AI Strategy”, we’re working with industry leaders and laying down infrastructure that will empower an entirely new digital economy.
Anyone who works with you knows you love music.
I grew up in a house filled with music and constant singing (for better or worse). I was born too late for Woodstock ’69, too early for Soundcloud, but just in time for Napster and Spotify. Music has always been at the center of my life. Even growing up in a town of 633 people, it helped me form friendships and create memories with people from all over the world, one song at a time.
If you’re not at a concert, what else might you be up to?
Cooking. Watching the Knicks…Or playing guitar!
Pinata jam sesh coming soon!
