IPFS Gateway Analytics: Available On All Paid Plans

Justin Hunter

In 2021, Pinata launched the first-ever Dedicated IPFS Gateway. The idea behind this product came from insights gleaned through countless customer conversations. We heard over and over again how IPFS was slow. This didn’t track in our minds, though. IPFS could be slow, but all servers could be slow. It was through those conversations that we realized the real knock was on public IPFS gateways. These public gateways were not optimized for production use, and they were heavily rate-limited. So, we build Dedicated Gateways for our paying customers and brought IPFS performance up to the standards developers had for traditional content retrieval.

Since then, we’ve continued to iterate and improve on Dedicated Gateways. Every month, hundreds of terabytes of data passes through our customers’ Gateways. Every month billions of requests are sent to our customer’s Gateways. That data is valuable for our customers, so we built Gateways Analytics to provide insights into how Gateways were being used.

This rich data is useful in a variety of ways. Customers can use it to understand how their content is performing, they can use it for debugging, to see where their content is being consumed the most, and so much more.

Initially, we released Gateways Analytics on the Fiesta Plan and above, but today, we’re excited to announce that Gateway Analytics are available on all paid plans, including the Picnic Plan. If you’re on the Picnic Plan, you’ll be able to see 30 days worth of analytics. If you’re on the Fiesta Plan or Enterprise, you’ll be able to see 90 days worth of data.

We believe Gateway Analytics is a major step forward for developers building on top of IPFS, and we can’t wait to see even more people using this feature.

Happy Pinning!
